Hi! I’m Emma, a printmaker, bookbinder and illustrator practicing in Sydney. I love gaming, dungeons and dragons, coffee and of course anything and everything art related!

At the age of twelve, burn injuries resulted in my organs going into shock, and I was diagnosed with diabetes. I was on insulin replacement therapy for my entire stay at hospital until I left and no longer needed insulin. I was diabetes free for two years, when it came back in the form of Type 1, according to my doctors triggered by severe stress during my recovery period. During this time I found solace in artmaking, and decided I wanted to study art at university and make it my career.

I’ve just completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts, and am currently doing a Masters degree specializing in printmaking. Having been through a lot, I’ve developed an interest in how to communicate different experiences and emotions through art. By asking myself “how can I see this from anothers’ perspective?” I can challenge myself to explore the different experiences that all humans endure. Over the last couple of years art has helped me confront my own experiences, being a full-time diabetic as well as a burn victim, I’ve found art to be both my therapy and a career.
