Diabetes Distress

Diabetes distress isn’t a medical problem; it is the understandable stress that comes from living day in and day out with the challenge of managing diabetes. Diabetes distress can affect both you and your family, and it can change over time.

Do you feel burned out by the constant effort it takes to manage diabetes? Do you feel upset, guilty, or anxious if your diabetes management or that of your child is off track? Please discuss this with your healthcare team. A therapist or a diabetes educator can help you find solutions.

People with diabetes distress need support and perhaps specific skills for coping with diabetes. All people can learn to cope with diabetes though there are phases when it is easier and harder to deal with.
