If you need an emergency prescription for insulin, the following tips may be helpful:
- Call your healthcare provider (or former provider) and have them send a new insulin prescription to the pharmacy. Your provider will likely have an emergency line with an on-call physician if it is not business hours.
- You can stress the importance of needing insulin or you die. Do not be ashamed to beg or cry.
- If your provider will not call in a prescription, call your pharmacy and ask to speak to a pharmacist. They may have options.
