Talking Type 1 fitness with Coach Heather Doyle
October 16 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm GMT-0600
Our first fitness session with Coach Heather went so well, we are hosting a follow-up! This is a free, in-person, special educational event on Type 1 fitness.
Do you know what kind of fitness regimen works best for you as a Type 1 to stay healthy, increase your insulin sensitivity, and meet your goals? Maybe you’ve learned how different types of workouts affect blood sugar differently, but do you know how to put that learning into practice? Heather Doyle has been in the fitness industry for 20 years, and has spent the past 5 years learning about, advocating for and supporting Type 1 members and athletes. She is volunteering her time and expertise for this educational session because she’s passionate about supporting people with chronic diseases in their health journey.
Our **first fitness session** was focused on the different types of exercise and how they impact blood sugar and insulin sensitivity; why certain types of exercise spike rather than lower blood sugar, and which types of exercise you might want to do to meet your fitness goals.
**Session 2, which will be much more hands-on, is intended as a follow-on** **to the first session, and will focus on:**
* The benefits of building muscle
* How to build muscle and which muscle groups to focus on to benefit blood sugar management and insulin sensitivity
* Put it into practice: specific exercises you can do on your own, in your home/wherever convenient to build muscle
This event will be a little bit of lecture and mostly demo and practice, so come dressed to work out!
This event will likely be held at the Cherry Hills Orangetheory Studio in south Denver, CO, who have kindly lent us space and equipment for this event. *THERE’S A POSSIBILITY WE MAY HOLD THIS EVENT OUTDOORS INSTEAD, BUT IT WILL STILL BE IN THE CHERRY HILLS AREA. IF WE CHANGE LOCATION, REGISTRANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED WELL IN ADVANCE.*
This event is in no way specific to Orangetheory and is intended to provide you exercises you can do at home, mostly without equipment, and on your own schedule.
This public calendar allows anyone to share their in-person or virtual events with the entire T1D community. The Beta Cell Foundation is not responsible for any of the events listed here other than its own.
