Right Care Alliance National Diabetes Day Story Slam!
November 15, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EST
About this Event
World Diabetes Day is coming up on Saturday, November 14. This year, the Right Care Alliance will celebrate with a story slam on Sunday, November 15th from 2-4 pm EST. We will uplift the voices and hear stories from those most affected by the high cost of insulin prices and diabetes – people living with diabetes, people who love people with diabetes, and clinicians. World Diabetes Day was created by the International Diabetes Foundation and the World Health Organization in 1991 to honor Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin along with Charles Best in 1922. The Right Care Alliance (RCA) insulin campaign aims to end the cycle of high insulin prices and the exploitation of human beings living with diabetes. The price of insulin has tripled in the past 10 years. On average a person living with diabetes would need to invest $1500 a month for their insulin.

The Right Care Alliance (RCA) is a grassroots coalition of clinicians, patients, and community members organizing to make health care institutions accountable to their communities and put patients, not profits, at the heart of health care. RCA created the Affordable Insulin Initiative and is continuously working with persons with diabetes, clinicians, and policy makers to advocate for fundamental changes in the cost of healthcare, specifically, insulin in the United States and globally.
